Alex Monk Therapy in London

Hello and welcome. I’m Alex, a fully qualified and accredited psychotherapist and art therapist with a private practice in Clapton, East London.

There are many reasons why you may be thinking about counselling or psychotherapy. You may wish to talk about feeling anxious, low, or a relationship that is not working. Perhaps you feel unhappy at work, overwhelmed by guilt and self criticism, or feel that there is something missing in your life.

When I work with you, I provide a confidential setting and will listen without judgement to help you identify and give name to the issues that are troubling you. This process can provide a relieving sense of an emotional weight being lifted and lead to living a more creative, fulfilling life.

ABOUT ME

I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist and an HCPC registered art therapist. I am also a member of The Institute of arts in therapy and education.

I have a Masters in Integrative arts psychotherapy with distinction and five years of rigorous formal training as psychotherapist, and art therapist. My experience is diverse, having worked in NHS mental health services in London for both inpatient and community settings, for charities and in private practice.

I am an external examiner at the Institute for arts and therapy in education and work as a Clinical Supervisor at Asthma UK. As part of my commitment to ethical practice and continuing professional development, I regularly evaluate my work and attend workshops and seminars.

Perhaps the most curative aspect and the very foundation of psychotherapy is when you actually experience a felt sense that you have been heard and seen as you wish to be, not as someone else wants you to.
